Volunteer Appreciation Luncheon, and annual meeting, for the 2014-15 year
Prancing Horse Center for Therapeutic Horsemanship hosted a volunteer appreciation luncheon and annual meeting on February 17th at the Village Chapel in Pinehurst. Program and Special Events volunteers were treated to a delicious lunch.
Chris Nazario and Sharon Wilson were elected for three-year terms., and Judy Lewis and Barbara Saul were each re-elected. Letty Baker was introduced she will manage the shop, A Bit Used, as a new volunteer for Prancing Horse.
The highlight of the day was the presentation of the Prancing Horse volunteer awards by Lynn Rudnick, Volunteer Coordinator. First the lesson volunteers who had served extraordinary hours working with riders were honored for their dedication. Kathy Wright was the leader in this category with over 400 hours of volunteer service to Prancing Horse. Outstanding Special Events Volunteer of the year, Suzanne Faker. Suzanne was applauded for her outstanding photography. Over the years she has donated her services in photographing all of Prancing Horse’s events. Especially memorable are the collages which she creates for each of the farm owners who open their properties for the Horse Farm Tour in October.
This year’s winners the Kenneth R. Westcott award are, Wrenn Reynolds, from the Muddy Creek Farm; Barbara Brazer, from the Seven Lakes Stables, and Mary Wright from the McLendon Hills Equestrian Center. These awards are given in memory Ken Westcott who served on the Prancing Horse board of directors and guided it though the transitions to the current business plan.
