Prancing Horse holds 10th Annual End of Year Horse Shows in 2019

Each September Prancing Horse begins a new therapeutic horsemanship program for individuals with physical, cognitive or emotional disability. At the beginning of the program, all participants are evaluated for both riding and personal goals. These goals are set by certified Prancing Horse instructors in collaboration with public school exceptional needs teachers, parents, caregivers, or with the clients themselves. Throughout the following months, the students work toward these goals. The end of year horse shows in May bring a final evaluation where the students, whether sitting tall with big smiles, or walking their horse through a prescribed course, showcase the life skills they have worked on all year. An appreciative audience composed of donors, guests, parents and volunteers was on hand to applaud the accomplishments of all the participants.

Executive Director, Judy Lewis, formally announced each rider entering the show arena. Judge, Bill Lewis, had the important honor of carefully studying and congratulating each student on their performance. Every student earned a ribbon and tee shirt which was presented by Prancing Horse donors and honored guests in an awards ceremony at the conclusion of class.

This year’s team included Prancing Horse instructors, Susan Price and Claire Pollard as well as event organizer Kak Johnson. Each of the morning classes had sponsors who served as hosts/hostesses and provided snacks for the students and guests. We appreciate the Pinehurst Rotary, the PUMC Friendship Circle, Kak Johnson, Edie McWilliams, Colleen Dolgan, and Addie Trask for sponsoring the morning horse shows. Many thanks to everyone for your support as we at Prancing Horse work to enhance the lives of individuals with special needs by providing a safe environment for therapeutic horsemanship. At the end of our spring session, we host horse shows for our students, showcasing their excellent work throughout the year.

This could not be made possible without the generous support from our donors and sponsors.

Thank you!
